At the edge of the water he stood, crazed eyes racing across the endless blue. In actuallity the blue may not have been endless, but it came pretty close, at least in his opinion. Any water was endless, in the aspect that he was terribly afraid of it, and that fear would never end. Then again it could, but he wasn't going to attempt to conquer that fear.
Sighing softly Maverick threw off his clothing, excluding a pair of boxers and waded in to about his waste. A moment passed and he waded slightly deeper, now the water was around his shoulders. A deep breath taken he plunged beneath the surface only to reemerge a moment later, visibly shaken. The bathing was necessary. Maverick smelled terrible. And simply dunking once wasn't going to help. Another breath taken and again he was below the surface. Below the water was another world abundant with small fish darting this way and that. He wasn't interested. He surfaced again and decided he was done with bathing for life.
A few seconds later he was at the waters edge. Drying himself off hastily he threw the clothes on then lay against the sand of the bank. It was warm, and it soothed his shaken body.

Lilla swam around under the water. The lake went deep, but not reallly really deep. For her anyway. She started swimming upwards, in circles, and then finally she surfaced. She looked up at the sky and smiled at it. She could breathe above water and below it, but her scales always needed to be moist. She saw a guy getting out of the water, so she swam over to the beach, her wings propelling her and her longish neck stretching out at him. When her face was about a metre away from him, she rested her head on the shore and said "Hello." She could speak human, but it was hard.
(Lilla's a dragon btw.)

"Hello there," he mused, rather startled by the dragon's sudden appearance. Maverick hadn't expected that in the least, and it was quite suprising. How often did such a magnificent creature simply appear before you, if even at all? Blinking a few times he pinched himself, maknig sure he wasn't dreaming or anything.

"Hello." She repeated. "Why don't you come for a swim?" She sniffed the air. "You stink." She watched him pinch himself and added "I'm real, thank you very much. I might prefer fresh water better than sea water, so it shouldn't be that surprising that I'm here."

"No.... no, I think I'll pass," he said, his cold and unfeeling facade on the return. His icy blue eyes stared at her, searching for some kind of sign. It was an odd turn of events, certainly and he suspected there was more at work. How often did a dragon just pop out of nowhere and offer to swim with you? Not very often, if ever. Who really knew anymore? Maverick certainly didn't.

She looked at his ice blue eyes, then shrugged. "It looked like you were about to have a bath...or maybe I'm just seeing things." She had an annoying habit (well, annoying to everyone else) to just point things out even when they were apparent. "So, why don't you? Are you, scared of water or something?" She giggled. She was only joking. I mean, who would be scared of water? That's really weird. Unless he can't swim or something...again, who can't swim?
