Akira had learned two lessons tonight. Number one: take walks after dinner more often, because it is really pretty at night. Number two: do not walk too close to the river, because you cannot trust your feet. She had learned the second lesson the hard way, and now she was soaked to the bone. As if that wasn’t bad enough, it was cold outside, and the river was even colder. She was sitting at the edge of the river with her legs curled up, rubbing her hands together and trying to get warm. You could at least have brought a warm cloak, she scolded herself. When these sort of accidents happen regularly, one would think that she might learn to have some foresight.

Kau watched from a 'safe distance'. There was a girl sitting by the rivers edge completely soaked. He shivered slightly. Not because he was cold, but because he is deathly afraid of girls. His pale face and red and ice blue eyes stood out in the night. Other than that you couldn't see the rest of his body. He wore all black so he was hard to see. He shuffled a little bit in the trees making little noises. He absolutely didn't want to get close to her. He just watched her and tried standing as still as possible.

There was a little rustling in the trees, and that made her pull herself into an even tighter ball. It was already cold enough being wet in the middle of the night, but if it got windy at a time like this, she would have to suck it up and get home or risk getting ill. The problem was that Akira was not good at sucking it up. She sneezed into her palms. I guess I’m already a little sick, she thought.

Kau jumped when she sneezed and held in a small scream. he whimpered a little. He couldn't help but be afraid.

Akira looked over her shoulder, peeking at the trees. That was a strange sound, like a… whimper? Trees rustle and blow and shake around all the time, but they don’t whimper in the wind. That means it was just her imagination, or somebody was in the trees, whimpering. “Hello?” she said, trying to look where she thought the noise had come from.

Kau began to shake and dropped to his knees. "meep"he said trying to hold in more whimpers.

That was it, somebody was definitely in there. She got to her feet, swaying a couple times on the way up, and took a couple of steps toward the sound. “Are you hurt?” she asked, still not quite sure where the sound was coming from. It was dark, and her eyes were stinging quite badly from the water. Walking was still quite an effort, so her steps were slow and lurching.

Kau curcled up ina tight ball. "n..n...no."he finally managed to say. His red eyes and his icey blue eye looked up at the GIRL coming close to him. He whimpered once more.

Akira finally got close enough to see a shape, curled up into a little ball. She caught sight of his eyes; one the brightest blue she had ever seen, the other one red. They looked absolutely terrified of something. “You don’t—” she started to say, but before she could finish, stumbled over a tree root and fell to the ground right in front of him.

He stared frighten. And the only reaction he could get was falling backwards. He didn't want to speak to her but he feared he had to. "a...a.......are you ok?"he asked finally.

She pushed herself up to her knees, and nodded, rubbing her forehead. It hurt a little, but the dirt was soft, so it was nothing worse than a little bump. “Are you?” she asked.

He just backed away further. Staring at her with his eyes. He pushed his red and black hair from his eyes. He just looked away

He kept backing away, like he was frightened. His eyes looked pretty scared. The boy was obviously terrified of something. Was it really any of her business? She’d never met him before, and he didn’t seem to want to talk about whatever it was, but… it would be rude not to try to help somehow, if she’d intruded this far already. “Can I… help?” she asked, quietly.

"your not helping at all."he said looking at her with his frightened eyes. She was infact, the cause of him being terrified. "you."was all he said.

Akira hung her head, feeling a bit guilty. Of course she wasn’t helping at all, the only thing she had done was ask weird questions and fall on her face. How on earth could that be helpful? If there was nothing she could do, then there was nothing she could do. Simple as that. “I’m sorry,” she said.
