Another day was on the horizon, another minute ticked by. She wasted them by waltzing around the desolate town, as she did every day. You must be out of your mind, she thought to herself with a slight chuckle, there goes mother again. Her thick cord of mahogany-brown hair was still despite the strong winds that blew. Aye, how she missed the feel of the wind and sun, the ice and heat. Though twas spring, the air still had the faint remainder of winter. Yet here she was, running through the town in nothing but her billowy dress. Aye, it seemed like winter would never end, mayhap this was how the Gods intended it to be. Ekta's dress billowed in the brisk wind, sending a shiver down her spine... well, it would've anyway.
Suddenly she was reminded of how desolate this place had become. It occurred to her that she hadn't seen another being for at least three months, maybe longer. She couldn't be certain, time seemed to blur together now. Her footfalls advanced to the dirt road where she finally spotted the lovely tree grove. Indigo-emerald opticals took in the scene with a contented sigh. In the distance a spirtly equine danced about the timbers.
The equid's cranium picked up and studied the young lady briefly before retuned to the lush weeds. She laughed and began to study the flowers of a wild rose bush when she heard faint rustling from behind her. When she glanced over her shoulder she half expected the lovely horse to be creeping up on her, but that was not the case. The monstrous stag remained contently where he was, grazing in the warm sunshine. Ekta dismissed the noise to the back of her mind and went back to admiring nature. Frost would be coming again, she sensed it in the wind.
Frost, of course, meant food shortages and little[or no]water. Such conditions meant illness and sometimes death. Oh joy!... Literally. She smiled just thinking about it. Maybe she would not be alone for long. Of course, she could always take the form of her human self and venture among the living, but even so only those who wanted to saw her then.
